Overview
Incline Gallery’s latest show, Curb Appeal features artists Alan Miknis (painter) and Austen Zombres (collage), both from the San Francisco Bay Area, whose muse is trash.
The group show includes 25+ works that elevate “the often overlooked street compositions of things discarded, including post-consumer packaging and street paraphernalia that some consider filth or mundane.”
It’s always invigorating to see Pop Art done right. And when it’s done right, a snarky homage effortlessly morphs into a work of idolatry.
Collage art lovers, pickers, upcycled enthusiasts will enjoy and appreciate this show. Flamin’ Hot Cheetos, um yes, please. Just terrific.
Curb Appeal runs until October 8, 2023.
Incline Gallery was founded in 2010 by Brian Perrin, Christo Oropeza, Shirin Makaremi, and Mary Powers. You might know Oropeza’s work from his Fort Mason mural, 𝘼𝙪𝙣 𝙖𝙨í, 𝙥𝙞𝙚𝙣𝙨𝙤 𝙚𝙣 𝙩𝙞, which was featured on A LOVE LETTER TO ART earlier this year. *Fun Fact: The gallery’s angled walkway was meant for wheeling gurneys originally, as the space was part of a mortuary!

🗓 Curb Appeal runs until October 8, 2023 at Incline Gallery.
