Feast at Johansson Projects is a solo exhibition by L. Song Wu that unfolds like an Italian full-course meal, exploring the sensual, performative, and unsettling nature of eating and consumption. Each painting evokes the exaggerated intimacy of mukbang videos—overflowing with surreal abundance, absurd beauty, and emotional detachment. Drawing from Wu’s cross-cultural experiences across the U.S., China, and Italy, the works reflect how food, desire, and identity intertwine through race, gender, and class. At once seductive and grotesque, Feast invites viewers to consider what it means to consume—and to be consumed—in a world of endless appetites.
