Overview
The 500 Capp Street Foundation, also referred to as David Ireland House, is a non-profit art organization housing a gallery, museum, and archive celebrating the late San Francisco conceptual artist, David Ireland. It is an EXTRAORDINARY place to visit if you love contemporary art.
They are currently running 2 PHENOMENAL shows:
THE CONDITION WHERE ART WOULD DISAPPEAR, featuring 25+ works (for sale by Anglim/Trimble) by David Ireland, which closes Dec 16, 2023. Separate post to follow.
The Paule Anglim Archive Room named for the San Francisco gallerist and curator, Paule Anglim (who represented David Ireland) is the organization’s newest addition, and is located in the basement. The following artists are included in the spectacular group show closing August 26, 2023: Alan Rath, Amy Trachtenberg, Al Wong (film 𝙎𝙖𝙢𝙚 𝘿𝙞𝙛𝙛𝙚𝙧𝙚𝙣𝙘𝙚 (1979) with sound by Terry Fox), Bob Jones, Catherine Wagner, Catherine Sherwood, David Ireland, Enrique Chagoya, Gay OUTLAW, Hannah Wilke, Jim Pomeroy, Jim Melchert, Mie Preckler, Mildred Howard, Nayland Blake, Paul DeMarinis, Paul Kos, Peggy Ingalls, Terry Fox, Timothy Berry, Tom Marioni, Tony Labat, William T. Wiley.
Curator Lian Ladia shows Al Wong how a Paul DeMarinis sound piece works. Wong’s film, Same Difference (1979), is also part of the show.
