Art Calendar: KAWS: FAMILY at SFMOMA (SF SoMa) | Nov. 15, 2025–May 3, 2026
SFMOMA’s KAWS: FAMILY marks the artist’s first major West Coast museum exhibition, showcasing three decades of his (Brian Donnelly) distinctive, emotionally resonant work. Featuring paintings, drawings, sculptures, and iconic character-based pieces drawn from pop culture, the show highlights KAWS’s ability to blend playfulness with poignancy. At its center is FAMILY (2021), a monumental bronze sculpture of his beloved figures—COMPANION, BFF, and CHUM—depicted as a tender family unit, inviting viewers to reflect on themes of connection, vulnerability, and shared humanity.
